Over the past few weeks about 60 listed and privately owned retailers have told the market how they fared over the crucial festive period. Last autumn predictions were rife that we were set for the worst Christmas since the 1970s as shoppers kept their wallets in their pockets.

Andrew Day has a passion for motors but being immobile and wheelchair-bound means he will never drive. But that didn’t stop the 14 year old from having the ride of his life as he took to a limousine with his family for a bit of celebrity-style treatment.
